Discovering Your Innate Wisdom…

What is in a motto? Why or how could a motto help to establish what a business offers and what it represents? When I was creating the vision of Healing Motion I thought that figuring out a motto would be difficult and painstaking. But in reality, Healing Motion’s motto, Discover, Restore, Transcend, manifested relatively quickly and with ease. It felt right to me. But why?

My current (and constantly growing and evolving) experience in the field of somatic therapy has expanded my vocabulary around embodiment and intuition. While becoming more informed about trauma anatomy and understanding what happens in our bodies during rest and digest as well as fight or flight (both intuitive and highly evolved nervous system responses that keep us as mammals alive and safe) I became more focused in on our innate embodied wisdom.

What is this? Do we all have it?

Innate wisdom might be our gut instinct. Those “spidey senses” that we get when something feels off, or untruthful, or unauthentic. It could be a change in body temperature or a swift intake of air, like an involuntary gasp. Maybe it’s a movement or gesture, like a hand to your throat or heart. All of these are embodied responses to our innate wisdom. Those instincts that we reason ourselves out of, that we sometimes ignore or push down are still within us, urging us to listen and engage.

But do we all have this innate body wisdom? YES!!! I believe so!

One term that is being used quite often is “rewilding”. In our current times, specifically in Western societies, there has been a domestication of our innate wisdom. A call for rewilding of our senses, our instincts, and our feelings is being voiced.

So how do we discover our innate wisdom?

Each of us will have certain instincts that are honed and active. However, we will also have instincts that we haven’t exercised in quite a while, which could make us feel uncertain or unsafe within our own bodies and the signals and communication happening within our mind/body connection. Somatic based practices, mindfulness, and exercises that enhance awareness can all assist in identifying what wisdom we hold from our ancestors and personal experience, and which ones we might be ignoring.

Discovering our innate wisdom is the first step with me and Healing Motion on our journey to overall embodiment and wellness (which I will break down in the next two blogs). If you are curious about learning more, please feel free to contact me via email at: healingmotionkw@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you and beginning this discovery together.
